BlendKit Course

Introduction

Hello, my name is Ismael Lara (a.k.a. “Izzy”), a Senior Instructional Designer at Rutgers University.  As an instructional designer, I assist faculty with developing face-to-face, blended, and fully online courses.  I have developed courses in a wide range of subjects, from political science to biochemistry to accounting.  In addition to this full-time role, I also teach information technology and computer programming courses as an adjunct instructor at both Rutgers University and Southern New Hampshire University.  Finally, in my effort to further increase my knowledge of what makes a well-designed course, I am also a Certified Master Reviewer for Quality Matters, their highest review-based certification.

Despite all of this experience in instructional design and teaching, I wanted more.  So I signed up for the”BlendKit2017: Becoming a Blended Learning Designer” Massive Open Online Course hosted on Canvas.  It proved surprisingly challenging at times, but luckily I was able to leverage existing materials from the courses I have taught.  This is my portfolio submission for this course.

The portfolio is outlined on the individual pages linked below (also available via the “Portfolio” menu above).

Week 1: Understanding Blended Learning

Week 2: Blended Interactions

Week 3: Blended Assessments of Learning
